42 years after a company’s first purchase of a Mercedes truck from Euro Commercials, Newport-based Monex Group has continued the legacy by purchasing a brand new Mercedes L2553.
“When my father Rhys Howells purchased the first of his numerous Mercedes 1633s from Euro Commercials way back in 1983, I wonder if he ever imagined his son would be reigniting that Mercedes Partnership 42 years later
Monex Group purchased the new Mercedes L2553 as part of its ever-increasing expansion. With a fleet now of 170 vehicles, the 530 Horsepower Mercedes complete with its Giga Space Procabin will travel across the UK and internationally by its team of 185 drivers.
As part of the Group’s commitment to reducing its carbon emissions, the choice wasn’t simply about its aesthetic, it was very much about the improved economy and innovative technology fit for the future.
“Following a successful demo, driver acceptance and fuel economy, the resulting buying process with the Euro Commercial team was straightforward with them managing the extras fitted including the added storage, microwave, light bars, and DVS kit.”
James continued: “We love the bold new cab design both inside and out. The interior of this Mercedes Giga space is definitely a place that represents what we want for our hard-working team of drivers, and it’s great to see Mercedes-Benz pushing improvements in efficiency through both the drive train and the aerodynamics of this new cab.
“I’m definitely looking forward to an opportunity to drive this great looking truck under working conditions. Thank you to the team at Euro Commercials who have worked hard to get us back to utilising the Mercedes Benz product, I hope this is the first of many!”
“Euro Commercials is delighted to celebrate a milestone moment with Monex Group, who placed their first new truck order with us over 40 years ago. This order highlights the strength of lasting relationships built on trust, quality, and service excellence. A huge thank you to James and Jordan for choosing Euro Commercials and Daimler Trucks again, we’re proud to be part of your journey and can’t wait to see the new truck out on the road.”
